Carcassonne Hills Residences

Carcassonne, France

2010

For the Carcassonne Hills Golf and Health Resort, a planned eco-conscious development in southern France, TVA provided conceptual design work for the residences along the golf course, which are conceived as affordable second homes for individuals looking to enjoy a community-spirited and healthy lifestyle in this beautiful region.

The residences, which encourage indoor-outdoor living and accentuate the connection to nature, have simple, efficient floor plans and utilize the building materials common to the rustic, vernacular architecture of this region in France.  The residence design lends itself to off-site, modular prefabrication, and can be adapted to create units of varying size and configuration, including two-story concepts.  The spacious interiors feature vaulted ceilings with exposed roof trusses, and glass walls which open to private terraces.

The concepts were envisioned for the first two residential “hamlets”, as part of the first phase of the overall development of the resort.  The project fell victim to the global financial crisis at the time, and has not been realized.
